About this policy
This policy explains how Next Power (WA) Pty Ltd (ABN 95 617 464 445), trading as Next Power ("we", "us", "our"), handles personal information. We are committed to handling personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
It applies to personal information we collect through this website, by phone and email, and in the course of quoting, designing, installing and maintaining solar, battery and related energy systems.
What we collect
We only collect personal information that is reasonably necessary for our work. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- your name, email address, phone number, and suburb or postcode;
- the type of enquiry and anything you tell us about your project;
- site and property details needed to assess and deliver a system, such as the installation address, roof and switchboard details, photos of the site, and energy bills or usage data you choose to share;
- details needed to complete grid connection, rebate and certificate paperwork, such as your electricity retailer, network and meter details;
- business details, if you contact us on behalf of an organisation;
- billing and payment records for work we carry out (we do not store full card numbers); and
- records of our communications with you.
We do not ask for sensitive information (such as health information). If you choose to deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym we will try to help, but we usually need your name and contact details to quote for or carry out work.
How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you: when you fill in an enquiry form on this website, call or email us, meet our team, or engage us for a project. Sometimes we receive it from others, such as a builder, property manager or business partner who refers you to us, or a supplier involved in your project. Where that happens, we will handle it in line with this policy.
How we use it
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and prepare proposals and quotes;
- design, install, commission, service and maintain your system;
- arrange grid connection approvals, rebates, certificates and warranties;
- manage our relationship with you, including invoicing and support;
- improve our services and this website; and
- meet our legal, regulatory, safety and record-keeping obligations.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only where needed for the purposes above, for example with:
- our installers, electricians and subcontractors working on your project;
- equipment manufacturers and suppliers, for orders and warranty registration;
- electricity distributors and retailers, for grid connection and metering;
- government agencies and scheme administrators, for rebates, certificates and compliance;
- service providers that help us run the business, such as our website host, customer relationship management (CRM) and email providers, accountants and IT support; and
- anyone else where you have agreed, or where we are required or authorised by law.
Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers, including website hosting, CRM and email services, may store or process information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Where that happens we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
This website and cookies
When you submit an enquiry form, the details you enter are sent securely to our CRM so our team can respond. The form records which page it was sent from and when.
This website is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. The site also loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google's servers.
At the date of this policy, the website does not use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will update this policy. Links to other websites are not covered by this policy.
Marketing
We may contact you about our services where you have agreed to it or would reasonably expect it. Every marketing email includes a way to opt out, and you can ask us to stop at any time using the details below.
Storage and security
We store personal information in secure electronic systems and, where needed, in paper records at our office. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, change or disclosure. When we no longer need it and are not required to keep it by law, we destroy or de-identify it.
If a data breach is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) where the law requires it.
Access and correction
You can ask for access to the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days. If we refuse a request, we will explain why in writing, unless it would be unreasonable to do so.
Complaints
If you are concerned about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. We aim to respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (opens in a new tab).
